An effective teacher means students will receive a higher quality of education. With 250 million children of primary school age lacking basic reading, writing, and math skills, it is important to invest in quality teacher training, especially in the developing world.
In the world’s poorest and most fragile communities where teachers need the very best professional development, they often receive either no professional development or it is of low quality or limited duration. At the end of March 2016, The Kikulu Foundation will join forces with ConnecTeach and our local partner teacher training college in Uganda to embark on a multi-year Teacher Development Initiative that will focus on professional development for up to 300 teacher trainees in rural Uganda. As these trainees become teachers, and go out into school across rural Uganda, their learnings will have the opportunity to impact hundreds and hundreds of students across the country.
