empower. elevate. educate

A primary or secondary school scholarship gives a student the resources they need for a FULL YEAR of school.

Giving Investment: $240 or a $20 recurring donation

Our Goal:

  • To provide education for orphaned and disadvantaged children who have no other means to be able to attend school
  • To support student progression through primary school
  • To support transition from primary to secondary school and ultimately, higher education or vocational training

The Scholarship Students:

Our current scholarship students are students living in rural Uganda about 3 hours from the capital city of Kampala.  Our scholarships help pay for the children's school fees, uniforms, and needed materials.

The Why:

In Uganda, there have been nearly two decades of conflict between the government and the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) that has caused severe humanitarian crisis marked by widespread insecurity and displacement. In addition to the LRA, the on-going battle of AIDS has impacted many communities. There are 1.2 million people living with AIDS in Uganda (which includes roughly 150,000 children). Between the LRA and AIDS, Uganda is home to an estimated 2 million orphans, with nearly half due to AIDS. There are simply a large number of children without adults who can care for their well-being or their education.

Here is an excellent Q&A about the LRA from the Human Rights Watch.

100% of the donations given as a part of our KikuluCREW Initiative go directly to fund primary and secondary scholarships.
